Yuri's Night Movie Night

When:  Apr 17, 2021 from 19:00 to 22:00 (ACST)

AIAA Adelaide invites you to join us for a screening of Fritz Lang's classic science fiction film "Frau im Mond" to celebrate Yuri's Night.

Yuri's Night is an annual commemoration of Yuri Gagarin's orbital spaceflight in 1961, and AIAA Adelaide has chosen to host a movie night to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first human orbital flight. We will be screening "Frau im Mond," a classic silent film from 1929 directed by Fritz Lang, whose other works include "Metropolis." "Frau im Mond" contains some of the earliest serious treatment of rocketry and spaceflight in film, with extensive contributions from scientific advisor Hermann Oberth predicting the use of such things as vertical rocket assembly and launch countdowns.

The screening shall be held in Stone & Chalk's Event Space on the evening of the 17th of April, starting at 7pm with entry from North Terrace. We plan to begin the film at 7:10pm, and Stone & Chalk will have their bar open during the film for attendees to purchase refreshments. Admissions are limited to a total of 50 people to comply with South Australian CoVID guidelines.
