Dear Colleagues,
In my role as a Deputy Director for the Aerospace Sciences Group, I am working on starting up a computational physics community within AIAA, with the hope that it will eventually become a technical committee. AIAA already has a CFD subcommittee and other (sub)committees that focus on some of the more traditional computational aerospace physics disciplines. The goal of this effort is to widen the net to include other increasingly relevant aerospace disciplines, discuss discipline coupling and opportunities for cross pollination, alleviate congestion in the Applied Aerodynamics and Fluid Dynamics Technical Committees, increase opportunities for young and experienced professionals, and include a VVUQ subfocus.
We would start by meeting virtually a few times during the year to discuss motivation, scope, and priorities, as well as proposing special sessions and discussion groups this spring for SciTech 2027.
Let me know if you are interested in participating in these discussions and feel free to extend this invitation to other interested parties.
