Advances in High Fidelity CFD for Aerospace Aerodynamic Analysis and Design

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) plays an important role in nearly every stage of a product lifecycle in the aerospace industry.  The impact CFD can have in reducing cost and enabling new technologies for product development will continue to grow as numerical algorithms, physics models and computer hardware continue to advance. In this talk, examples of all these advances will be provided in terms of the Lattice Boltzmann method and Very Large Eddy Simulation and the anticipated role of GPU will be highlighted.  In addition, the importance of the overall CFD ecosystem is an important consideration to enable efficient design and analysis capability to engineers and examples of this will be provide for both the aerospace and adjacent industries.

    Speaker Biography:

Greg Laskowski, Director of Fluid Mechanics, Dassault Systemes

Education: B.S. Aerospace Engineering Penn State University, M.S. Aerospace Engineering University of Cincinnati, and Ph.D. Aeronautics & Astronautics from Stanford University.

Dr. LASKOWSKI currently leads the Fluid Mechanics enablement team supporting the development, deployment and enablement of SIMULIA fluid solutions for all industries.  Dr. LASKOWSKI joined 3DS in 2018 after having spent 14 years at GE Research and GE Aviation supporting development and deployment of CFD tools and methods for aircraft engine and power generation technology and products. He is an inventor on a dozen patents or pending patents and author on more than 80 peer reviewed articles in these respective industries. He did a PostDoc at Sandia National Labs in Livermore CA focusing on large scale multi-physics, multi-scale CFD prior to entering industry. He is aa Fellow of ASME and a member of AIAA.
