Description:

Aerospace Micro-Lessons Working Group
(a subset of the STEM K-12 Outreach Committee)

Five years ago the Aerospace Micro-Lessons Working Group was formed to get kids interested in aerospace engineering. Failing that, we’d like to get them interested in other engineering, scientific, or technical fields. Our method of doing this is to give educators “aerospace micro-lessons,” two-to-five-minute tidbits that they can use at the beginning or at the end of a class to pique students’ interest. We have produced over 90 lessons and are now updating our earliest efforts, as well as looking for new lesson ideas.

Current group members come from a variety of backgrounds. Some of us are educators and others are engineers, but we all share the goal of getting kids excited about aeronautics and astronautics. Each of our lessons is broken into grade bands for primary, intermediate, middle, and high school students with a common topic presented in age-appropriate ways. If you are interested in joining our group and helping us to write more micro-lessons to share with teachers and students, please click the Apply Today! button above. Please note, you must Sign In (top-right corner) to see the Apply Today! button.

Once your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted by the Chair of the STEM K-12 Outreach Committee, Craig Merrett.
