Dear Leslie, Kudos on your AIAA engage discussion posting. This site is new and I know that several of our members have not been checking it. It might be of value for us to also put out a call to the Hampton Roads section via email. With your permission, I will ask our section secretary to distribute the following: Subject: AIAA-HRS: SPACE PROFESSIONAL NEEDED FOR LEGO FIRST
Dear HRS Members,
Leslie Bulger facilitates an after-school robotics/engineering club in Suffolk, Virginia, and in the fall, participates in the FIRST LEGO league competition. This year the theme is Into Orbit. https://firstinspiresst01.blob.core.windows.net/fll/2019/FIRST-FLL-2018-19-Challenge-Letter.pdf
Leslie is looking for anyone who could give a presentation to students during the first week of September about the challenge problem. It could be a a very general presentation about human space travel.

Good Morning!
I facilitate an after-school robotics/engineering club in Suffolk, Virginia. In the fall, we participate in the FIRST LEGO league competition. This year the theme is Into Orbit. https://firstinspiresst01.blob.core.windows.net/fll/2019/FIRST-FLL-2018-19-Challenge-Letter.pdf
The competition is made up of three components: the core values, the robot challenge, and the project. Core Values are philosophies of Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition®; standards the children should up hold. The robot challenge is the way the students program the robot to complete missions and tasks on the game board. The project is where the students identify a problem defined by the theme and come up with a solution. It encourages us to reach out to professionals and do research.
This year, with the Into Orbit theme, the problem is: Have your team identify a human physical or social problem faced during long duration space exploration within our Sun's solar system and propose a solution. I am looking for anyone who could give a presentation to my students during the first week of September about the challenge problem. IT could be a a very general presentation about human space travel.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns: lesliebulger@spsk12.net
There is a link that would need to be completed to be able to volunteer with the students.
Thank you for your assistance!
