Raspberry PI and Arduino are two of the popular tools for many applications and education in automation, robotics, rovers, cubesats, small rockets, remote sensing, communications etc., in aerospace and STEM education. This 1-hour introductory basic (and fun) demo is for all ages / levels of the public, who would like to know what they are and their basic functions / possible applications, to socialize together. It's also the beginning for several possible upcoming series of demonstrations (especially more geared toward possible aerospace applications).

Raffle Prizes include the basic model of Raspberry Pi or Arduino. The winning attendees will be selected by the AIAA LA-LV Section Young Professional (YP) and STEM K-12 Outreach Committees, who sponsored this event. In addition, Additionally, 4 gift cards will also be drawn randomly at the end of the event from the attendees at that time. Also, 1 free download image for ISS-Above as a Raffle Prize (Value $30) will be provided by Mr. Liam Kennedy.
-----------------------------------------------
Dr. Ken Lui has extensive experiences in automation, hardware, software, programming, equipment & devices, and board level electronic design and assembly in / for various R&D processes and applications, from nano / micro electronic devices & materials for computers, semiconductors, electronics, sensors, their characterizations & fabrications, laser / photonic microscopy imaging, biomedical / biochemical / biophysical analysis & detection robotics, high frequency analysis, etc., using professional automation processes, devices, and controllers. He obtained his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), shortly after the turn of the Millennium and the September 11 incidence, during which one of the airplanes crashed nearby Pittsburgh, PA, where Carnegie Mellon University is located. In addition, he enjoys building/fixing computers (different OS), and parts of various sizes/functions as hobbies and has been doing for many years.
-------------------------------------------------
Irvin Huang is the chair of the IEEE Orange County Section. He spent 6 years in enterprise tech support with an emphasis in Robotic Process Automation. During his free time, he likes to build and modify PCs, Macs and single board computers like the Raspberry Pi 4 and the Jetson Nano.
-------------------------------------------------
Liam Kennedy is the inventor of the ISS-Above, a single board computer device (a Raspberry Pi) that presents a rich set of live information about the ISS including live video views of the earth. What started as a weekend project in 2013 to build a cool gizmo to inspire his own grandchildren has now been shipped to more than 3,500 locations around the world including private homes, schools, science centers and even at every NASA center nationwide. ISS-Above is one of the education partners with the ISS National Lab and received a grant to support their use in 100’s of schools across the USA.
