    The APUS-AIAA Student Branch presents Carl Starr:

    Carl Starr spent 12 years in Army Space Command and left the military in 1997 and went to work in Cambridge, Massachusetts for TRW on the Chandra X-Ray Observatory. In 2000, Carl started his own aerospace engineering company and ran it for 13 years. He worked with Northrop Grumman on the EOS satellites Aqua and Aura. Later, he began work on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) as a Senior Systems Operations Engineer. He has been working on the Webb Telescope full time since 2004.

    Since late 2014, Carl was appointed as the NASA Mission Operations Manager for JWST. He works both at Goddard Space Flight Center and at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, MD where the JWST Project has built a new operations center.

    Carl received both his bachelor's and master's degree in Space Studies from AMU. He completed both programs with honors. In his free time, Carl is a bread maker and has a book published on Amazon titled "Old School Bread Making" (edited)
