    Dear AIAA Members & Friends,

The AIAA Region I annual student conference is being hosted (virtually!) by Rutgers University this year. The AIAA Long Island section is supporting Rutgers University for this year's student conference and is in need of assistance in judging both written and oral submissions, and are asking for volunteers for the following roles:

    1. Written paper judges. Everything will be online as usual, so no travel required. The projection is for about 50 submissions this year, so we need something close to 20 judges.  We would like limit the load to no more than 8-10 papers each (and have 3 scores per paper).
    2. Oral judges. Since the conference is virtual, no travel is required this year. The conference is being held Friday April 9th and Saturday April 10th with live presentations planned. Judges will be assigned to one or more specific sessions, approximatley 2 hours each, and will score in real-time.

See the following link for more information on the student conference (2021 Region I Student Conference).  To avoid conflicts of interest, University faculty are not permitted to act as judges, unless no entries from their "home school" are in play. Professional members from industry or government agencies, or retirees, are therefore preferred.

Please consider supporting this event. The local student organizers are under some stress due to the unfamiliar virtual format. Many thanks for any help you can offer.

To volunteer please contact Nick DiZinno (ndizinno@gmail.com) of the AIAA Long Island section.

    Thank you.

    Hi AIAA Mid-Atlantic!

The annual student paper competition for the AIAA Region I Student Conference is being hosted (virtually!) by Rutgers University this year. Assistance is needed for judging both written and oral submissions. They are looking for a few volunteers for the following roles:

    1. Written paper judges. Everything will be online as usual, so no travel required. We are projecting about 60 submissions this year, so we need something close to 40 judges if we limit the load to no more than 5 papers each (and have 3 scores per paper).
    2. Oral judges. Since the conference is virtual, no travel is required this year. The conference is being held Friday April 9th and Saturday April 10th with live presentations planned. Judges will be assigned to one or more specific sessions, maybe 2 hours each, and will score in real-time.

To avoid conflicts of interest, University faculty are not permitted to act as judges, unless no entries from their "home school" are in play in the particular category. Professional members from industry or government agencies, or retirees, are therefore preferred. AIAA has a sign-up page for paper judges, but please cc: Colin Britcher (cbritche@odu.edu) as that sign-up does not cover oral presentation judges.
