Are you interested in space and coding? Would you like to build a prototype satellite?
AIAA (American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics) and BWSI (MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute) are excited to announce that we are looking for High School students interested in learning to build a 1U CubeSat to complete an ocean science research mission. Teams of 5 students will build and program a CubeSat that will detect colored plastic in the ocean from space! The great part is mentors and hardware kits are provided to the teams at no cost.
Information about the Teams and schedule:
- Teams should be of no more than 5 high school students and 1 Adult Coach.
- There can be more than 1 team from a school entered into the challenge.
- Team coaches fill out the team application prior to December 31, 2021. (https://mit-bwsi.formstack.com/forms/aiaa_bwsi_challenge_student_team_application)
- Teams will be notified in early January if they were accepted into the challenge.
- Teams that have been selected will take part in a self-paced online course January 17th - May 14, 2022.
- Mentors will be available for help and we will host bi-weekly office hours as well.
- Teams that have been selected will receive their hardware kit in early February
- On May 14, 2022 (Saturday) AIAA & BWSI will host the virtual final competition. Teams will be required to submit videos before the final event and also make final presentations during the final event.
