I would like to highlight our recent effort in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) outreach program – One lead by Dr. Osaretin and Charlie Wilson, and the other by Allison Tsay.
- We would like to thank MITRE Corporation for donating 13 laptops for high school students in Brockton, MA. The computers will be used to support the summer coding classes organized by Mr. Cedric Turner (NSBE jr. chapter - Brockton Scientific).
We also would like to recognize and thank Cedric, who is a founder of "Empower You", and advocate for promoting STEM and supporting the disadvantaged minority students.
- Allison has been spearheading the rollout of the Aero-Robotics Competition (ARC) in New England last year amidst the pandemic! She has been working hard to steadily increasing the participating teams and mentors.
Mr. Gael Gatera, who is an AIAA Educator and Outreach Project Manager for NSBE, from the Aerospace SIG at NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) reached out to us for some help to get NSBE Junior (K-12) chapters in his local schools to enter the ARC competition for 2022. We started to work with Gael and donated a Tello drone to the NSBE Junior branch to get them familiar with the platform.
If you're interested in being a part of DEI outreach work, and/or being a part of the ARC, please contact us. We're looking for more volunteers!
