Ladies and Gentlemen,

I announce with regret that we are losing Eugen Toma, our Program Director.  We are looking for somebody to take his place.

The Program Director is in charge of implementing Section activities.  This does not mean that he or she actually has to do the work; ideally, somebody--anybody--would come up with an idea for an activity, get Council buy-in and support, and do most of the legwork putting it together.  The Program Director would simply keep a finger on the pulse and report at the monthly Council meetings what the status of the activities are.

The Section has several ideas for programs that are in various stages of development.  This is a partial list that comes to mind at the moment:

• We are involved in judging local Science Fairs
• We sponsor FIRST robotics teams at various levels
• We are planning one or more AIAA Distinguished Lectures
• We are starting to put together a rocket launching activity involving a trip to a launch site in Samson, Alabama
• We are considering get-together dinners out in various geographic parts of the Section
• We are also considering "Saturdays in the Park" with aerospace-related activities for kids of all ages
