Event Theme
The objective of the AIAA Southern California Aerospace Systems and Technology (SoCal ASAT) Conference is to bring together seasoned and new engineers, researchers, leaders, managers, academics, and students, and provide a forum to exchange new ideas, review achievements, and chart a new course for aerospace in the local area. Come share your expertise and insights with other local professionals and tap this unprecedented resource. If you are a student, this is an ideal opportunity to showcase your research, sharpen technical presentation skills, and meet professionals in your field.
Call-for-Presentations
Participants are welcomed and encouraged to repeat presentations that they may have made elsewhere for this local audience. Full length written papers are not required, but at a minimum, an annotated electronic copy of the final presentation is required for posting on our website. Students are strongly encouraged to present an outline of their senior thesis or graduate work. We accept unclassified presentations on all aspects of aerospace systems, technology, vehicle design, program management, aerospace policy, aerospace economics, and education.
Submittal Procedure
Please submit a short abstract or draft of your intended presentation electronically to Colin Helms. The deadline for submission of your Intent-to-Present is Friday, August 28th, 2021. Notification of acceptance will be sent by Friday, September 11th, 2021, and a final copy of your presentation will be due by Friday, October 15th, 2021. All authors are reminded that they should follow appropriate technology transfer guidelines (ITAR), as well as any required internal and/or external company/government reviews.
High School Poster Displays
Pre-college students are invited to present their science projects or science fair entries in our noon-time poster Zoom channel. Students may show off the Aerospace, Astronomy, or Planetary Science Projects they’ve developed and engage professionals in the industry. “Poster” presentations should be 5-10 minutes in length, including approximately 5 minutes recorded as MPEG or AVI video, with the remainder reserved for introductions and questions following the video.
