  • STEM Tutoring Opportunities with EnCorps

Since 2007, EnCorps has been working to address and impact the STEM teacher shortage by recruiting the best and the brightest science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professionals.  The EnCorps Teaching Fellowship provides an opportunity for STEM professionals to make their mark on future generations and beyond through exploring a teaching career where they will receive the proper training and tools to teach and transform education in low-income classrooms.  The Fellowship begins with volunteering 2-5 hours per week in a local school as a guest teacher and is currently serving the following regions: Los Angeles, San Diego, SF Bay Area, Denver, and New York City.

Not ready to dedicate your knowledge by teaching in a low-income classroom just yet?  You can still use your industry experience to impact a student through STEMx tutoring!  Being a STEMx Tutor is a low-intensity commitment (~2 hours weekly) which partners you with a middle schooler in need of your knowledge and mentorship.  This program is completely remote and does not require any previous teaching experience - your passion to tutor will be met with EnCorps support so that you will succeed.

Racial and socioeconomic achievement gaps persist in our schools today.  There is a 26% or greater gap in math achievement between white students and students of color.  We believe in the power of STEM to offer opportunities to students who need it most. You can change this by becoming a STEM teacher.

EnCorps STEM Teachers Program’s vision is to realize a day where all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, are inspired and prepared to pursue their dreams.  STEM Teaching Fellows explore the process to become a teacher within 1-3 years with the support of EnCorps training, guest teaching field experience, licensing guidance, EnCorps cohort of peers and the EnCorps network of schools.  When you become an EnCorps Fellow, you will provide access to quality education within low income schools, supporting students who need your mentorship the most.
