Join AIAA's St. Louis Professional Section and the Vertical Flight Society's St. Louis Chapter for a virtual distinguished lecture event on "Creating the Joint Strike Fighter" with Dr. Paul Bevilaqua, 19 January at 6 PM CT.

Lockheed Martin won the Joint Strike Fighter competition when the X-35 demonstrator aircraft made a short takeoff, went supersonic, and then landed vertically, the first time any aircraft had accomplished this feat. This was made possible by its innovative dual-cycle propulsion system, invented by Dr. Paul Bevilaqua, who then led the team that demonstrated the feasibility of developing variants of this aircraft for all three military services.
