    Hello NWFL Section:

I'm the Public Policy chair for our section and wanted to forward information about next week's Congressional Visits Days.  This year will be an all virtual CVD week.  Because it is virtual, attendees have the option of attending the whole week or to pick and choose what topics interest you.  The event should be free to attend.  You may be asked in a follow up email to attend some breakout sessions with attendees from our region comprised of sections from the Southeast USA.

More information and registration links can be found at the sites below.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Registration [ https://www.aiaa.org/advocacy/congressional-visits-day?utm_source=Informz&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=PublicPolicy2021&utm_content=Newsletter ] is open for any U.S.-based AIAA member who would like to participate in the Institute's 23rd annual Congressional Visits Day (CVD) program, which be held the week of 15 March. Given the continued health and travel concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, the program will be unlike any previous year-it will be entirely virtual. It will also take place over a whole week. We hope that this allows for more AIAA members to participate and ultimately provides an opportunity to present our message to more congressional offices.

Your support of this upcoming event will be invaluable during a time when COVID-19 is weakening the resilient aerospace and defense (A&D) industry. Enormous revenue losses, large-scale unemployment in aviation, challenges to our military capabilities, and the interruption of essential supply chains composed of small and mid-sized companies are creating a dire situation that cannot easily be reversed unless more is done by our decision makers in Washington, DC.

The Institute's message [ https://www.aiaa.org/advocacy/Key-Issues?utm_source=Informz&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=PublicPolicy2021&utm_content=Newsletter ] will be imperative and straightforward. State teams will explain how COVID-19 has created a crisis for the A&D industry, how the industry is critical to our economic and national security, and how it will be an essential part of our nation's rapid recovery from the pandemic. We will call on decision makers to support the people and the companies of the A&D industry by increasing investments in research and providing adequate funding for programs and missions.
