Aero Mavs progress towards IREC competition next year
The UTA Aero Mavs have competed all layups of their IREC competition rocket and a CFD on the fin tabs (above) with correlation to analytical destinations using the USAF DATCOM. All mechanical designs and sims are done for the payload. Read more about their progress in the Aero Mavs October Newsletter, attached. All Aero Mavs newsletters are posted to the newsletter section of AIAA North Texas Engage library.

Baylor submits package to AIAA to establish Student Branch
Baylor Associate Professor Dr. Liang Sun, Department of Mechanical Engineering, along with the designated Baylor AIAA student officers and members have submitted the required university endorsements and information to become an official student branch, to join UT Arlington, UT Dallas, and Tarleton as existing student branches in North Texas. Baylor should hear back on their bid package by the end of January 2026. Sic ‘Em Bears!

UTA Alumnus Navid Mansoory from Firefly presents & recruits at UTA
On 27 October at UTA, Navid Mansoory (above) from Firefly Aerospace, along with several recruiters, made a presentation on the Austin-area rocket and lunar lander company at UTA’s Nedderman Hall to the AIAA student chapter. They then completed initial interviews with students in attendance (below) for full-time and intern positions. Navid graduated from UTA with a BSAE in 2014 and an MSAE in 2016.
