The AIAA Carolina Section is hosting a day of aerospace-related events in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina on Monday 18 February 2019. All AIAA members in the Carolina Section and their guests are invited to attend, especially those in the central North Carolina area.
There are two events scheduled, and you may choose to attend either one or both events. There is no admission charge for either event, but we ask that you please make a reservation so that we will know how many to expect.
The first event takes place from 3:00-5:00 PM at the Piedmont-Triad International Airport and will include a tour of the operational areas of the airport. Buses will be available to transport up to 30 attendees on a portion of the tour. Prior to the tour, attendees will gather and be treated to short briefings from John Blanton, Chair of the AIAA Carolina Section, from Rick Reed, Regional Director of Aerospace Economic Development for the Piedmont Triad Region, and from Mike Boland, General Manager and Director of Engineering for the Triumph Group. Attendees should plan to arrive at the meeting room in the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority offices next to the Delta Airlines counter on the ticketing level. Special parking will be set aside for attendees on the lower level parking area. Plan to arrive well before 3:00 PM allow time to park and find the meeting room.
The second event will be a Networking Social starting at 7:00 PM at the Natty Greene's Brewpub at 345 South Elm St. Complimentary appetizers will be available and Natty Greene's craft beers and other beverages will be available for sale. This will be a great opportunity to meet and network with other aerospace professionals from the area and discuss new collaborations.
We hope that you will be able to attend both events, but if you can only attend one or the other that is fine as well. Again, it is important that you make a reservation as there are capacity limitations for both events.
To make a reservation for one or both events, please respond by email to blanton.aiaa@gmail.com. Please specify in your reservation email the following information for each attendee:
- Event (GSO Tour, Networking Social or Both)
- Name
- eMail address
- Cell phone number
You will receive a confirmation of your reservation by return email. If you do not receive a confirmation it means you do not have a reservation. A communication containing final event details and instructions will be sent on Friday 15 February at 2:00 PM to all registered attendees. If you think you are registered and you do not receive this communication, please contact me immediately.
