    Are you ready to revolutionize the future of manufacturing and energy systems with cutting-edge AI research? The Intelligent Manufacturing Lab at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is inviting applications for fully funded PhD positions for Fall 2026 (application deadline: Feb. 1st, 2026)! Our research focuses on the application of AI in manufacturing, energy, and data center systems.

    Qualifications:
    • Background in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Systems, Electrical, Materials, or related Engineering fields
    • Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS, Simulink)
    • Programming experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
    • Strong motivation to explore AI applications during the PhD

    About Dr. Liu and the Lab:
    Dr. Zheng Liu joined UM-Dearborn in Fall 2025. He earned his PhD in Systems Engineering (UIUC), his Master's in Mechanical Engineering (Cornell), and his Bachelor's in Energy & Power Engineering (Xi'an Jiaotong University). Dr. Liu has published in Advanced Materials, Science Advances, Journal of Power Sources, and more, with over 750 citations. Learn more about our research: https://m-iml.github.io/
