Hi all-
I hope this email finds you well. Earlier today I was able to sit in on an AIAA Year-In-Review (YIR) call and they've informed us that the YIR articles will continue to be published and distributed to AIAA members despite moving to an all-digital format. That's great news for us as a TC to highlight the past year of accomplishments and developments in the survivability domain!
As we've done in the past, I am requesting your input for our annual YIR articles. We are looking for topics spanning (1) aircraft, (2) aerospace vehicles / spacecraft / missiles, (3) commercial aviation, (4) military and civilian aircrews and passengers, and (5) engines. Survivability also includes "safety" in design, and not only from ballistic threats or adversary fires. Some helpful guidelines to follow:
- We need a paragraph of about 150-200 words per topic, preferably with an accompanying photo if available. (The total article is 600 words, allowing us to write 3-4 paragraphs on different topics.)
- Activity may fall within November 2024 to November 2025, but must include an identified link to an activity in the January 2025 through 15 October 2025 calendar window.
- Topic should avoid names of individuals and should de-emphasize the names of companies or organizations. This is not a publicity opportunity for organizations, companies, or individuals.
- While AIAA is US-based, non-US topics are solicited as well.
- The topics submitted must be fully cleared for publication / public release, with no claimed copyright. Please take this into consideration as you work your submissions and approvals.
- Your fully-cleared input is needed by EOD Friday, 26 September 2025, so we can provide it to AIAA immediately thereafter. An initial draft is due to the publishers 1 October 2025.
Please reach out if you have any questions, and please forward this to colleagues who may have an interest or a story to tell. This is a great opportunity for you to expose some important work in the survivability field and highlight your respective organizations to the general AIAA reader and beyond!
Thank you,
-Dominic Pena
