Dear colleagues,
The AIAA Multidisciplinary Design and Optimization Technical Committee is hosting a panel at SciTech 2024 to try and bridge the gap between academic MDO research and the challenges industry is currently experiencing. The intention is to provide a forum where MDO researchers can hear directly from the industry practitioners about their challenges. The longer-term vision is to use this session as a kickoff for establishing better working relationships between researchers and practitioners to help push research forward.
The panel is a 2-hour, moderated session with panelists from around the industry. Each panelist will give a 5-10 minute talk about how MDO is relevant to their organization and the types of problems they are trying to solve. The 2nd hour will be a moderated Q&A. We have developed 4 main topic areas we think would be of interest to the broader community:
1) Data generation and management, practical data generation processes and timelines
2) Dimensionality of analysis and optimization problems
3) Critical gaps in discipline models
4) Critical gaps in interdisciplinary models, in particular as related to more recent interdisciplinary challenges
Our panelists are:
- Sean Wakayama, The Boeing Company
- Dr. Shahrokh Shahpar, Rolls-Royce
- Juan Montaro, Lockheed Martin
Please pass this notice on to anyone who may be interested.
