Greetings MDO TC Members!
I am looking for 3-4 volunteers to serve as judges for the SciTech 2025 Student Paper Competition.
Judging will occur during the month of November and are due 29 November.
Please give this consideration as it is an important service opportunity for our TC.
See additional details below.
Thank you,
Mike
Dear Student Paper Competition Coordinators,
I hope everyone is doing well and getting excited for SciTech!
As I mentioned in my previous email about the student paper competition, we have 54 (was 55 but we found out that one paper is ineligible) semifinalists from the abstracts. The next step is manuscript judging: we will down-select to 15-20 finalists.
The student paper manuscript deadline is November 1st, 2024 (one month before the regular manuscript submission deadline). I will distribute the papers for judging as quickly as possible after the submissions are received. The scores will be due back by November 29th, 2024 (so you can read papers during Thanksgiving!) so that the scores can be collected and finalist notifications sent out the following week. Each paper gets assigned to 3 TC-specific judges and 1 cross-TC judge. Please recruit enough judges (the more, the better) from your TC depending on the number of semifinalists for your TC. I plan to assign 4-8 manuscripts per judge, depending on the number of volunteers.
Please start to recruit judges from your TC and provide me their names and contact emails by October 30th 2024. Please make sure all your judges are aware of the timelines.
Here is the breakdown semifinalists by TC:
