The Institute for the Development and Commercialization of Advanced Sensor Technology (IDCAST) was founded in 2006 when the University of Dayton received funding from the State of Ohio’s Third Frontier Project to establish IDCAST as a Wright Center of Innovation. IDCAST is a collaborative commercialization organization consisting of eight Ohio universities, twelve endowed chairs in layered sensing, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and over 30 Ohio companies focused on bringing Remote Sensing and Chemical/Biological sensing application to market. With $6.4 million in matching funds for the commercialization activities and over 75,000 square feet of collaborative laboratory space, IDCAST serves the sensor needs of the safety, security, environmental, and biomedical markets. IDCAST also supports the academic, industrial, and federal lab communities by providing access to expertise, facilities, and equipment.
