There is an opening in BR&T Flight & Vehicle Technology for a Senior Configuration Design / MDAO Engineer, based out of Hazelwood, Missouri.
The focus of this role is on the development of Multidisciplinary Design, Analysis, and Optimization (MDAO) models, tools, and processes for a diverse set of air vehicles and systems across the Boeing Enterprise (e.g. tactical aircraft, transport aircraft, UAVs, rotorcraft, hybrid-electric vehicles, missiles). In addition, the position will also support conceptual / preliminary design studies with the models and capabilities developed. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize one's creative abilities to develop innovative engineering processes and tools in a Model-Based Engineering (MBE) environment that is applicable to the design of multiple platforms across Boeing.
The successful candidate should possess the skills to work independently as well as in a team environment. This position will require excellent communication skills and the technical knowledge to be able to provide oversight and direction to early-career engineers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of MDAO models for a diverse set of vehicle platforms, which includes architecting the model, writing scripts to link analysis codes together, and incorporating higher-fidelity analysis
- Run trade studies, design space explorations, and vehicle optimization studies
- Integrate MDAO models with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Participate in the development of MDAO technology roadmaps
- Lead projects within the MDAO Internal Application Development (IAD) portfolio
- Provide MDAO support for CRAD proposals
- Trains and mentors others on the MDAO process and best practices
