We are reaching out to you all to share news regarding an open call for new members from the AIAA Life Science and Systems Technical Committee. Our Life Science and Systems Technical Committee focuses on providing professional development opportunities and sharing knowledge of topics related to humans living in space and working in extreme environments. Example project topics include space suit design, human factors engineering, space biomedical research, modeling and simulation and of spacesuits and life support systems, as well as space workforce development (e.g. space nurses).
In addition to collaborating on projects, there are various professional development roles and events within and external to our committee, including organizing, attending, and presenting at AIAA conferences, steering committee for the International Conference on Environmental Systems (http://ices.space), outreach to policymakers, and obtaining experience in educational outreach and communication to inspire the next generation of students and young professionals interested in diverse aerospace careers. Additionally, if you are interested in learning about topics related with life science and systems engineering, you are welcome to reach out to us and see if this area, as well as our committee, may be of interest and benefit for you.
In short, we're looking for more individuals to join this committee to support rising young professionals, as well as for individuals to have a voice in the industry.
