It is with sadness I tell you our longtime programs coordinator, Bob Greene, passed away last night from cancer that had metastasized to his liver. He was a few days past his 69th birthday. His wife, Sue, was by his side. He was inside the house he built with his own hands, in the mountains of north Georgia.
I've been attending AIAA Atlanta section meetings for at least two decades. I think Bob was program chair even then? He also organized our Congressional Visits Day contingent. Until about a month ago when he became too ill to continue, he was writing a paper about tandem autonomous robots for exploring lava tubes on the Moon and Mars. He was enthusiastic about the possibilities of space industry and tourism. He wanted to see humans walk on Mars.
To say he will be missed is an understatement. His absence will be obvious.
