    I saw the proposed position statement and I wonder if it is weakened by the first part recognizing the "scientific basis" of effects of aviation on climate. If we drop that, the rest assumes that there is an effect and that there are actions and changes the industries can make to reduce, and eventually eliminate, the effects on climate that threaten human welfare.

    Preliminary results from a Smithsonian Institution project led by Scott Wing and Paul Huber, showing Earth's average surface temperature over the past 500 million years.  For most of the time, global temperatures appear to have been too warm (red portions of line) for persistent polar ice caps.
