    Hello to all,

I just moved to Huntsville, AL and am now working in the Space division of my company. Previous to this job, all of my experiences were on fixed-wing aircraft with one exception which was an internship at NASA a while ago that was very conceptual in nature. My current work in Space is dealing with more preliminary and detail mechanical work somewhat similar to the other divisions I was in where I was supporting fixed-wing aircraft actually in production.

My question is what kind of AIAA events are there around Huntsville for technical professionals to take part in? I am not looking for a specific event and a specific time, but just a more general list of some of the more popular AIAA activities, especially those for professional growth and networking.

Hi Samee!  I'm vice chair of GHS currently.  We've had limited in person events due to covid-19,but look forward to getting back to that in the very near future.  We have a monthly professional lecture series which is conducted over Zoom (although looking to move back to in person meetings in the coming months).  We are having an in person awards dinner on May 22nd at Huntsville Botanical Garden with guest speaker former astronaut Bob Stewart.  I don't think it's been announced yet, but we will be participating in "Brews to Benefit" at Straight to Ale on April 4th (which would be a great social event for you to attend and meet others in GHS).  We also have a lot of volunteer opportunities with community events and STEM outreach.

Keep track of all events through our marketing e-mail and our webpage:  Home - Greater Huntsville Section (
AIAA GHS was super helpful to me when I moved to Huntsville at integrating into the community and meeting new people.  Hopefully I will get to meet you at an event sometime!
