Great Paper Airplane Contest 2026

The Greater Huntsville Section's Great Paper Airplane contest is returning for Engineers' Week 2026, the afternoon of Friday FEB 27 from 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM on the first floor of the ASCTE main building. Design guidance and materials will be available. Minors should be accompanied by a parent/teacher/guardian who stays for the event. No RSVP needed: just show up!

3:30 PM - Judging starts

5:15 PM - Judging stops

• Aerobatics
• Time of Flight
• Distance
• Accuracy
• Artistic

Age Groups:

• 5 years & under
• 6 - 10 years
• 11 - 14 years
• 15 - 18 years
• 19 - 25 years
• Over 25 years

Competition Rules

• Paper ONLY for base material (tape & glue OK, as well as markings for decoration)
• Hand-launched (Neither springs nor rubber bands)
• Airplanes ONLY (No flying disks, missiles, etc.)
• One entry for each flying category, though unlimited 'artistic' entries
• 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes in each category, given at least three entries in that category for that age group
• Judges decisions are final
