Dear Members,

AIAA honors its members by advancing their membership based on their work and/or contributions to the society. The window for nominating AIAA members for Associate Fellow opens February 1 and runs through April 15.

Associate Fellows are Individuals who have accomplished or been in charge of important engineering or scientific work, or have done original work of outstanding merit, or have otherwise made outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics. A nominee must be an AIAA Senior Member in good standing, have a minimum of 12 years of professional experience, and furnish three references from members at the Associate Fellow grade or higher. Self-nominations are not permitted.

To help our members understand the Associate Fellow nomination process, the Greater Huntsville section will conduct an Associate Fellow Nomination Preparation Seminar on February 12. The Seminar will discuss AIAA member grades and honors, Associate Fellow eligibility criteria, the nomination process, perspectives from the Associate Fellow evaluation board, myths surrounding Associate Fellow selection. We will also discuss strategies to strengthen the nomination package and enhance the nominee's competitiveness. Greater Huntsville Section Associate Fellows Chip Kopicz and Ken Philippart will teach the seminar and share tips for submitting a nomination package to better document the candidate’s capabilities and experience.

This will be a great way for you to learn how to nominate your colleagues, coworkers, or friends for this honor or to pursue Associate Fellow nomination for yourself.
