    AIAA HRS Technical Seminar Series

Domenic J. Maglieri began his professional career at NACA Langley in 1951. He has over 60 years of experience in noise control on subsonic and supersonic aircraft, rotorcraft, and vertical/short take-off and landing vehicles. He retired from NASA in 1986 and joined Eagle Aeronautics as Director for Projects. He is considered one of the leading national and international experts on sonic boom. His sonic boom flight test involvement began in 1957 and has continued for more than six decades. During his 35 year career with NACA/NASA and his last 35 years with Eagle Aeronautics, Inc., he participated in every major sonic boom flight test program and has authored or co-authored over 160 publications of which over 100 are focused on sonic boom. He retired last year at the end of August after spending the last 6 years in support of the NASA Low Boom Flight Demonstrator, the X-59 QueSST.
This presentation will open at the beginning sonic boom N-wave era, view the US boom data base, a look back on the failed US SST effort, see the end of the N-wave era and entry into the sonic thump shaped waveform era and the X-59 QueSST. Thus begins the quest for civil overland supersonic operations with a change to the current no boom rule that became Concorde’s demise and may threaten the new SSBJ/SST entries.
