Its FIRST Lego League time of year again and after a few years of combinations of remote/in-person tournaments, we're finally back to "normal" with in-person events.
This year's theme is Super Powered and it's all about how we create, transport, store and use energy. If you're not familiar with FLL, you can find more info at https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/fll/game-and-season.
If you are in the Hampton Roads area, our tournaments take place
- Saturday, November 5th, Newport News (Crittenden Middle School) – 20 teams
- Saturday, November 19th, Norfolk (Norfolk Collegiate) – 12 teams
We're looking for volunteers to serve as
- Judges (robot design, innovation project or core values/teamwork but now even though you will focus on one area, you get to participate in all three as part of a team with 2 other judges)
- Referees
- Core Values Judge (new – the excitement of the competition floor without having to be a referee)
- General volunteers (score keeper, floor manager, emcee, etc.).
No experience is needed and we'll provide training for you. You also get a free shirt and free lunch! The tournaments will be from ~8am to ~4 pm but we will have a limited number of roles for folks that cannot be there the entire day. Additionally, for those willing to help on Friday, November 4th, we will be setting up in the evening before the Newport News tournament (Norfolk set up will be the morning of the event).
