The 2nd Annual Young Aerospace Visionaries Contest (YAVC) is now underway. This contest is applicable to K-12 students residing or attending school in the area covered by the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics (AIAA) Northern Ohio Section (NOS). This includes 36 Northern Ohio counties. To see if your county is on the list, check out the
2022 YAVC Announcement and Application Document. The list of counties is on the last page. This years contest challenges students to form their vision for one of three futuristic aerospace topics. One topic is meant for each grade range. K-4 students will develop a vision for space tourism. 5-8 students will develop a vision for urban air mobility. 9-12 students will develop a vision for creating a sustainable environment in space around the Earth. Background and details about these topics are provided in the announcement and application document. Applicants will need to create a depiction of their vision and write a short essay to describe it and provide rationale for why they believe in this vision. Winners will be selected from the applicants within each grade range category and prizes will be awarded. If you are an educator or parent, please share this opportunity with your students and children. To the students, we hope you find this challenge interesting and we encourage you to give it a try.
