  • UTA Aero Mavs SRT Update - 2/19/21

    Hello everyone,

I hope you all are finding ways to stay safe and warm. I have some important updates regarding NASA SL and Spaceport America Cup. At this time both NASA SL and Spaceport America Cup have canceled their in-person events due to COVID-19. NASA SL is will still follow the same timeline and scoring structure, however, all teams will be required to launch at a home field with supervision of a NAR/Tripoli member. Spaceport America Cup will be strictly virtual. The competition will include virtual poster sessions, team presentation, and keynote speakers. They have offered to retain our deposit for a 2022 slot and for those still interested in launching, participation in the Runkle Regional Rocketry Competition (RRRC) through SEDS-USA and Tripoli.

The RRRC requires the team to construct a rocket capable of carrying a 2.2 lb payload to an altitude of 10k feet on a maximum of an L class impulse motor. The timeline closely aligns with NASA SL with the launch window opening on May 1st. I will be meeting with the leads to come to decision regarding participation.

The news about the competitions is disappointing however, we are still looking forward to launching and showcasing our rocket and payload.

    Thank you for your time,

    Alexandre Plihon
