Announcements

Process for election:

1. Call for nominations: 1 – 10 April.  This is the period of time where nominations will be accepted.  Nomination period ends at 12pm pacific time on 10-April.
2. Nominees will be contacted and given from 10 to 12pm pacific time on 17-April to accept the nomination.
3. Election slates will be crafted and details advertised via Engage / email on 18-April.
4. Voting period opens 18-April and closes on 24-April, through Survey Monkey.   
5. Winners are tallied by a third party member of the section, not up for re-election.
6. Winners announced on 1-May.
7. New council members will work with the current council through May to learn their role, and the policies and procedures of the AIAA VAFB section.
8. New council members begin their roles on 1-June-2020, which marks the beginning of the Section Year.

Council Member Election Guidelines: 

1. Nominees must be AIAA VAFB section members.
2. No self-nominating allowed. Nominees must be nominated by an AIAA member other than themselves.
3. Definition of Voting Member: a person who is an AIAA VAFB active Professional Member, or a Council Member.  Discounted memberships are able to nominate, and serve on the council, but are not considered voting members.  This is one of the benefits of being a Professional Member, they pay full price, and receive voting rights.  Discounted members such as e-Members, military discounted members, or student discounted members can be nominated and can be elected to council; but they are not considered voting members, unless they serve on the council.  All council members are considered voting members despite membership type.  Once a member voted in as a council member, they are considered voting members regardless of membership type.

• Term length on council member positions: 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years.
• Term limits on council member positions: 1 term only, 2 terms only, or unlimited terms so long as they are a council member in good standing.
