UTA Aero Mavs nearing completion of their 30K’ Competition Rocket
The UTA Aero Mavs have competed all layups for their 2025 big competition vehicle. All of the fins have been attached to the lower body tube, as seen above. They have also acquired their 2 rocket motors for the Lone Star Cup and IREC competition, about $6K total for motors and casings. The Aero Mavs plan is to first test their new rocket at the Lone Star Cup, 22-23 March 2025, which is a competition between Texas colleges. The IREC International Rocketry competition, which the Aero Mavs have competed in for several years now, has moved from its previous years’ location at Spaceport, NM to Midland-Odessa, TX for this year to be held 9-14 June. The competition typically hosts over 120 university teams from around the world. AIAA North Texas has been a sponsor of UTA and our other local rocket teams for several years.
