Dr. Chatterji received a Ph. D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Santa Clara University in 1997. He holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Mississippi, and a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, both in Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Chatterji is presently employed by Crown Consulting, Inc., where he is a Senior Scientist and the Technical Lead for the development of Shadow Mode Assessment using Realistic Technologies for the National Airspace System (SMARTNAS) Testbed under the NASA Academic Mission Services (NAMS) contract with the Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, California. He is carrying out research on several other Air Traffic Management (ATM) (air traffic control and traffic flow management) topics, and manages a team of researchers and programmers supporting air traffic research at NASA Ames.
Dr. Chatterji has over thirty years of research experience in the field of aerospace engineering, specializing in the areas of air traffic management, machine vision and pattern recognition, and flight dynamics and control. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Dr. Chatterji has received several awards from NASA and Raytheon, and is a recipient of the IEEE M. Barry Carlton Award and the AIAA Aerospace Software Engineering Award. He is listed in Who's Who in Science and Engineering in America.
