For those that may be interested, there's a Kickstarter running for another two weeks for a historical aviation themed board game titled "First in Flight." I don't know anything about it, but it did look interesting. First in Flight - A Historical Aviation Board Game Kickstarter remove preview ...

I would be interested in seeing the voting results and breakdown as well. Especially what the participation rate was. ------------------------------ Matthew Hitt ------------------------------

Unfortunately, it has gotten to the point that GHS is having to decide whether it wants to remain an AIAA section or not. And in my mind, it is unfortunate that READ has deemed what was a previously accepted practice of individual section bylaws is now worth dechartering a section over. The discussion ...

While it is true that GHS bylaws have to be in accordance with national for GHS to be in good standing within AIAA, right now the members do have full control of the bylaws. Arguably, this whole discussion is because GHS controls its own bylaws. Granted AIAA may decide that GHS can't be a section any ...

Tracie, thanks for your post. I think it highlights the fundamental disagreement between the two views on the proposed standard bylaws. The particular sentence that best illustrates the issue is when you said: "READ is the basis of member driven activities and events." In my opinion, it seems that ...

Here are a few questions regarding some items that come up that might be helpful for the membership regarding voting on the bylaws. Don't know if the forum is the best place to answer them or if an email to the membership would be better. 1. What items in the standard bylaws are specifically driven ...

True, if an amendment is passed to the US Constitution, it may affect all the states, but it also may not (e.g., term limits for US president). However, the states still have their own unique constitutions and establishments. Amending the US Constitution would be an analogous to an amendment to the ...

In my opinion, the amendment process in the standard section bylaws is a significant concern. For the sake of argument, let's say that the standard section bylaws pass and that GHS is happy with them. In that situation though, GHS is in the position where its bylaws could be changed by 3/4 of the other ...

Don't know if the Town Hall was recorded. It would probably be helpful if it were for those that weren't able to participate. One thing worth mentioning regarding potential lack of care is that a non-trivial number of members don't live in Huntsville where the majority of events are. So while GHS ...

Regarding the bylaws discussion, I would like to make an encouragement, an observation, and a challenge. First, I would like to encourage a no vote on the proposed bylaws. Passing the new bylaws would result in a loss of autonomy, and with autonomy, you don't know what you've lost until it is too ...
