  • 2023 YAVC Winners

On behalf of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Northern Ohio Section (NOS), it is my pleasure to announce the winners of the 2023 Young Aerospace Visionaries Contest (YAVC). First I want to thank all of the teachers and parents who encouraged their child/students to participate. I'd also like to thank all of the students for participating. The projects were imaginative and worth consideration. All of you should be proud. Without further ado, the selected prize winners are:

We hope to continue to grow this contest in the future, so please spread the word and keep this contest in mind for next year. The announcement goes out in February.

We encourage all students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with curiosity and mind helping society. Stay curious and continue to equip yourself with the skills and knowledge to be successful as well as helpful to others.

  • About 3 weeks left to submit your projects

The deadline for submissions is April 30th. That's just a little bit over 3 weeks away. That's still enough time to tackle this challenge. Please consider submitting a project.

  • 2023 YAVC Kick-Off

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Northern Ohio Section (NOS) is announcing its 3rd Annual Young Aerospace Visionaries Contest (YAVC). We are interested in knowing what future engineers, scientists, astronauts, pilots, and otherwise creative-minded individuals have to say about the future of air and space travel, and the technologies that enable it. Therefore, we are challenging students to create a depiction of their vision for a futuristic aerospace‑related topic and to write a short essay to describe and offer rationale for that vision. This year's topic for Kindergarteners through 4th Graders is "Interesting Applications of Drones". The topic for 5th - 8th Graders is "High-Speed Air Transports". Please check out the "Library" tab for the announcement & application form as well as a supplemental document that provides some additional background about the topics.

The projects will be judged and the best projects will receive awards including cash, free admission to the Great Lakes Science Center, and an invitation to the AIAA NOS Honors and Awards Picnic in the summer. The picnic will provide an opportunity for the students and their families to interact with engineers and scientists working in the aerospace field.

Please consider participating and spreading the word about this opportunity.
